Una natura superba, un castello fantastico.
Lago di Barrea (AQ)
In the heart of the Abruzzo National Park and among the pristine peaks of the Apennines, there is the Lake of Barrea, which overlooks three delightful villages: Barrea, Villetta Barrea and Civitella Alfedena.
Artificially built in 1950, by means of the barrier of the river Sangro, it is about 5 km long and 500 m wide. The presence of birds is remarkable: herons, egrets, ducks, mallards, knights of Italy, water hens, kingfishers and many other species. In any season of the year it is the ideal place to live in harmony with unspoiled nature in a healthy and suggestive environment. Along the shores of the lake there are pedestrian and cycle paths for those who want to take a little bike: you can find benches, parking areas and a refreshment point with a small beach, called "La Gravara": an ideal place for swimming, sunbathing or cycling.
