Pescocostanzo: a precious jewel among Italian "minor" settlements, an ancient village, an excellent example of conservation of civil and religious architecture. It stands at the center of a system of karst plateaus, known as "The Region of the Major Highlands of Abruzzo", and is among the highest-altitude municipalities in Italy (1400 meters above sea level). An exceptional heritage of Renaissance and Baroque monuments, the intact urban layout of the past, a social physiognomy not distorted by novelties, make this place exceptionally unique, where the signs of history are all to be experienced.

Center of ancient craftsmanship tradition, it offers the visitor a variety of renowned artistic handicraft products (filigree goldsmiths, bobbin lace, wrought iron, carved wood, etc.), but also the abundance of zootechnical products and a developed tourist equipment summer and winter, which is well integrated with the offer of the nearby towns of Rivisondoli and Roccaraso, with which it forms the most important tourist area of the Abruzzo mountain.
In winter the Vallefura ski resort, very close to the town, is an interesting alternative and offers the possibility of beautiful slopes, served by two ski lifts, a cableway and a treadmill, but also snow park and baby garden. To the wood of S. Antonio, then, the cross-country skiing center, with tracks among the most known of the region, with mechanical beating and served by ski school, equipment rental, waxing and refreshment point.

For the after ski, it is recommended a walk in the historic center, between palaces, with portals of Baroque taste, and houses with "vignale"; discovering the artisan shops, expression of the territory; a visit to the churches, especially to the ancient Collegiate Church of Santa Maria del Colle, to admire the fascinating decorative plants and the diversity of works of art that it contains, and to the Bobbin Lace Museum, where the wonderful "lace" are exhibited made by local artisans, faithful to that ancient art imported by the women of Lombard masters in the second half of the fifteenth century.
