Overview

Descrizione lunga

A welcoming and dynamic town, full of many excellent accommodation facilities: sport and entertainment are in the DNA of Montesilvano. It deserves a visit. What are you waiting for?

It is located north of Pescara, close to the Saline River. It is divided into two areas: Montesilvano Colli, a charming village with a beautiful panorama of the sea, and Montesilvano Marina, whose coastline is merged with that of Pescara.

It is a town with a strong tourist vocation linked to summer season, an ideal destination for a relaxing and comfortable holiday thanks to the high-level hotels dotting the coastline and numerous entertainment services. The greatest concentration is in the northern part of the Marina, which is why it is known as the 'Great Hotels' area. The Montesilvano beach has a bathing system that makes it an ideal destination for you and your family: since 2016, the city has been awarded the Green Flag, an acknowledgement assigned by a scientific technical committee of paediatricians, to municipalities that have child-friendly beaches.

The seafront is bordered by the Adriatic Cycle Route, also known as the Adriatic Green Corridor, which is ideal for those who enjoy sports by the sea and connects with the Santa Filomena Nature Reserve, where you can enjoy some fresh air in the shade of tall Aleppo pines. Since 2019, it has two public disabilty friendly beaches.
Sport, fun and services are the key words in this town, a jewel of the Adriatic coast.

But that is not all: Montesilvano also offers historical-artistic features such as the Train Museum, free of charge, which exhibits three locomotives (one of which is steam-powered), some freight wagons from the 1920s and 1930s and other vehicles of historical interest. Palazzo Delfico, in the centre of Montesilvano Colli, has a fine Baroque structure, typical 17th century ornaments and a large noble coat of arms.
Also worth visiting are the Church of Madonna della Neve (Our Lady of the Snows), dating back to the 12th century, which contains an ancient fresco of the Virgin Enthroned with the Child seated on her lap, and the Church of San Michele Arcangelo, on the shore of the town that turns towards the sea, in Piazza Umberto. It was founded in the 12th century and altered several times its appearance keeping the original side buttresses, (typical of the Middle Ages) and a Romanesque portal on the left.
