Regional Nature Reserve Pineta Dannunziana
The Pineta Dannunziana Regional Nature Reserve, established in 2000, covers 53 hectares in the southern part of the city of Pescara. It is a real "green lung" in an extensive urban context and one of the most densely populated in Italy and contains a remarkable variety of flora and fauna species, typical of the Mediterranean scrub. For the people of Pescara, the reserve is known as "Pineta D'Avalos" or "Parco D'Avalos", from the name of the family that at the time of the Bourbons, owned the marquisate of Pescara.
This beautiful wood preserves the Aleppo pine, the oak, the elm, the maritime pine and the domestic pine, reflecting the high biodiversity present in it.
